FAQ
-
To get started, you can reach out with a brief description of your project, including any sketches, reference images, or existing garments if applicable. The more detail you can provide about your design, goals, and timeline, the better I can assess the scope and next steps.
-
I work with independent designers and small brands on pattern development, as well as individual clients seeking custom, made-to-measure pieces.
Projects range from developing production-ready patterns to small reconstruction work and fully custom garments.
-
Custom sewing and patternmaking projects begin with an initial inquiry, where we discuss your design, goals, and project scope. Once details are confirmed, a quote and estimated timeline are provided, and a deposit secures your booking.
From there, I develop the pattern and create a prototype (muslin), followed by a round of fit revisions to refine the garment. Additional revisions or development stages can be included depending on the project.
Throughout the process, I focus on clear communication, precision, and fit.
-
Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the design and current workload. Most projects take between 1-3 weeks from initial development to revised pattern.
More complex designs or multi-piece projects may take longer.
-
Projects are invoiced once details are confirmed. A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due prior to final delivery or at agreed project milestones.
Payment details are outlined clearly before work begins, and payments can be made via e-transfer or PayPal.

Yes, fittings and revisions are part of the development process. Projects typically include a prototype (muslin) and a round of fit revisions to refine the garment.
In-person fittings may be available for local clients on Vancouver Island, while remote projects are developed using measurements, reference materials, and fit feedback.
Additional revisions or fittings can be included depending on the project scope.
-
Yes, I can work with client-supplied fabrics, or assist in selecting appropriate materials depending on the project. Fabric suitability will be discussed during the planning stage to ensure the best outcome.
