A Day in the Studio

Most mornings begin with a cup of coffee and soft instrumental music (acoustic guitar or piano are my faves) while I check over fabrics, sketches, and works in progress. My studio (still in progress with the final details) is a mix of neutrals and color - thrifted and deadstock fabrics, jars of buttons, trims, and threads in every shade. I love starting the day by choosing one piece to focus on. Every garment I make is truly one-of-a-kind, so I work slowly and intentionally, balancing structure and spontaneity. Some days I’m patternmaking or testing new designs for future sewing patterns. Other days, I’m sewing custom orders or photographing finished pieces for the shop.

The Joy of Slow Stitching

Slow stitching is more than a technique, it’s a mindset. It reminds me to pause and appreciate the small details: a perfectly matched seam, a neat topstitch, or how two fabrics unexpectedly complement each other. Sundays are my time to slow down, hand-finish hems, or plan what’s next while reflecting on the week’s work.

Finding Inspiration

Inspiration often comes from vintage silhouettes, unexpected color combinations, and the textures of reclaimed textiles. I love giving new life to forgotten fabrics - there’s a special kind of magic in transforming something old into something beautiful again.

Looking Ahead

As Giselle Clothing Design grows, I’m also developing digital PDF sewing patterns so others can join in the making process from home. My hope is to share not just finished garments, but the joy of making itself. If you’ve ever wondered what goes into each handmade piece, now you know!
